[DistrictEmisCoordinators] Creating New Accounts in SI

Good morning
I am forwarding out an email that was sent last year about this time about creating accounts in Student Information.  This is a reminder on how accounts need to be created so they do not cause issues.

Things are picking up now, and we are starting to see the creation of many new accounts in SI.  Just a couple reminders on account creation.  When you begin creating a new account, start filling out the information on the New Account screen.  At the bottom of that screen, after you select the account domain, you will see two radio buttons.  You will need to manually select the second option to "Attempt to automatically create the user in the external directory."  As you can see in the screenshot below, SI automatically defaults to NOT create the Active Directory record.

Once you select the second radio button, you will be prompted to enter a password for this account.  Make sure that your passwords contain at least 12 characters, or the Active Directory record will not be created.  If either of these steps are missed, the Active Directory record will not get created, the user will not be able to login to SI or GB, and you will not be able to reset the password.  In order to fix the account, we will need to remove the incorrect account from SQL, so that it can be re-created.

If you are not the person who creates SI user accounts, or if there are multiple people in your district who share this responsibility, please pass this information along to them.  Things are starting to get really busy, and we don't want to delay users' access to their applications, while they wait for these accounts to be fixed.
