Good Morning,

As many of you are aware there have been some changes due to HB96 in regards to CTAG weighted courses. Annette is working on this with our districts but we realize that there could be questions now for our schools. If you could please
share this email with your High Schools we would greatly appreciate it. If there are any questions please reach out to us here at MVECA so we can help.

According to the attached ODE documentation, home districts that have a weighted scale policy must equally weight the CTAG eligible courses. (#3 of the attached)

Schools may also not assign a greater value to CCP, AP, IB or Honors courses than to CTAG courses. (#6 of the attached)
MVECA contacted ODE for clarification on which scale to use when a school has different weighted scales for each of those course types. We received a response reiterating and confirming that schools must meet the requirement that CCP, AP, Honors or IB scales
cannot be weighted higher than CTAG courses.

Based upon ODE's response, we recommend that High Schools review their Difficulty Point Scales and/or their Add-on GPA Point values and define the recently added JCTG and JCCP Codes to match their highest weighted scale.

All ITC sites are using the same JCTG and JCCP Course Difficulty Codes and
Add-On Level Codes so that all JVS courses will match the home districts. At this time, Course difficulty level is included in the homeschool export file, but the Add-On Level codes are not. There is a high priority enhancement to have the export updated
to also include the Add-On level codes.

If you do not have a weighted scale for AP, CCP, IB or Honors classes, there is
nothing for you to do at this time. The law applies only to those schools who have a weighted scale policy.

What needs to be done by schools who do have a weighted scale per policy?

1-On the following screen in the current and prior
year, you will either need to define the following Add-On levels or Difficulty Point Values
for both the JCTG and JCCP scales.
Schools with Course Difficulty Levels will define them here:

2-If you have CTAG satellite courses that meet the requirements found in Question 1 of the attached, you will need to add the Course Difficulty Level or
Add-On Level to those courses built in your building so that the weighted scale will apply to those students as well. (This needs to be done in both 24-25 and 25-26 School years if applicable).

3-For any student currently enrolled in the 25-26 school year who took JVS CTAG qualifying courses in the 24-25 school year, the course history records imported from the JVS will need to be updated to have either the Level of Difficulty
or the Add-on Category added to the record. (We are working with other ITCs as well as our MVECA JVS districts to identify students in the 24-25 school year who were enrolled in CTAG courses in the prior year).

IMPORTANT: Do not refresh the GPA set in the Prior Year. These records are only being updated for Non-graduates in the 24-25 school year so that their CTAG courses will be included in the FY26 Weighted Scale and Standings/Rank.

4-If the StudentInformation application is NOT updated by the end of the semester to include the Add-on GPA level codes in the JVS Export, then after MVECA processes the semester 1 Import of the JVS marks, any school using Add-On GPA levels for weighting courses
will need to manually update the 25-26 imported files to define the Add -On level code.

We recommend that the above tasks be completed by the end of the 1st semester when Val/Sal determinations are often made. Our student team has begun adding the codes and creating tickets in our member districts to proactively assist in this process. If you
have not been contacted yet, you are welcome to create a ticket with your questions. Please include the following in the subject line of your email to
