<p style="margin-top:0in"><i><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">The following message was to superintendents and testing coordinators of traditional districts and community schools on Friday, November 20, 2015.<o:p></o:p></span></i></p>
<p><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Today the Ohio Department of Education published
<em><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">preliminary </span></em>performance data for Ohio’s school districts from last spring’s state tests in math, English language arts, science and social studies. The
<a href="http://education.ohio.gov/Topics/Testing/Testing-Results/Results-for-Ohios-State-Tests">
results can be found here</a>. </span><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">This is preliminary data that school districts are reviewing and updating prior to submission to the state via EMIS for use in calculating Ohio School Report Cards. As a result,<span style="color:#1F497D">
</span>the preliminary results could be different from updated figures.<span style="color:#1F497D">
</span>Districts also may<span style="color:#1F497D"> </span>have different figures that result from applying rules governing which student results are subject to final reporting for accountability purposes.
</span><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The department has published preliminary test result data for many years and we continue to use the same labels and categories. However, these results should not be compared to the previous Ohio
Achievement Assessments and Ohio Graduation Tests scores — the preliminary test result data are from new tests with greater expectations.
</span><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The timing of this data release is atypical because cut scores were set after the tests were administered last spring. Under law, spring results will be returned to districts next year no later
than June 30. </span><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
