RE: The Student Leadership & Empowerment Summit

North Central Ohio Educational Service Center (NCOESC) will be hosting “The Student Leadership & Empowerment Summit” on Monday, May 15th and Tuesday, May 16th at Tiffin University. The summit agenda includes and in-depth overview of The Leader in Me,
which is Franklin Covey’s whole school transformation process. This process teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader.

The Leader in Me is aligned with best-in-class content and concepts practiced by global education thought leaders. It provides a logical, sequential and balanced process to help schools proactively design the culture that reflects their vision of the
ideal school. Content from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is a key component of the overall The Leader in Me process. The 7 Habits is a synthesis of universal, timeless principles of personal and interpersonal effectiveness, such as
responsibility, vision, integrity, teamwork, collaboration and renewal, which are secular in nature and common to all people and cultures. The Leader in Me is also aligned to many national and state academic standards. The process teaches students the
skills needed for academic success in any setting. These skills include critical thinking, goal setting, listening and speaking, self-directed learning, presentation-making and the ability to work in groups.

Teachers and administrators from all of the districts we serve plus educators throughout Ohio have been invited to attend this summit. We have three amazing keynote speakers scheduled for the event: Ron Clark (Ron Clark Academy and Disney Teacher of
the Year), Muriel Summers (Principal of A. B. Combs Elementary, #1-Ranked Elementary in America, 2006 and 2014), and William Blackford IV (The Leader in Me International Speaker and Consultant). The attendees will also have an opportunity to visit
schools that currently practice The Leader in Me.

This event is not only for schools that have implemented or are planning to implement this program, but also for districts that are looking for take-aways and best practices for their schools. Early registration ends on Saturday, April 1, 2017. If you
are interested in attending, please visit [ http://events.ncoesc.org ]http://events.ncoesc.org to register or call Kristi Graves or Kathy Mohr at 419-447-2927.
