[Mail_supt] Category 2 Budget - Request for Comment

Dear Superintendents and Technology Leaders,
The FCC has recently requested comment on funding levels associated with Category 2 discounts for school systems.  We have been asked by the MCOECN to query you regarding your Federal E-rate, Category 2 funding opportunity.  Recent changes in the E-rate program provide funding to districts equivalent to  approximately $153 per-student, with a minimum per-building allocation of $9,400 for Erate funding year 2017.

This funding can be used for a variety of equipment needs, and to help offset the cost of managed internal broadband services -  a list of which can be found here (http://www.usac.org/sl/applicants/beforeyoubegin/eligible-services/default.aspx).  This would be an ideal time to consider replacing or updating aging equipment in your district, or to acquire additional services.

Please take a few minutes to complete this very brief survey to help identify where your district is in this process.  Please complete the survey by Friday, October 27th.
