ABOUT THE COMMUNITY AND SCHOOL:

The Holgate Local School District is located in agriculturally rich Henry County, just 50 miles southwest of Toledo in Northwest Ohio. This small, rural school district is the source of much community pride and overwhelming support by district residents for school initiatives and levies. The PreK-12 school complex completed in 2006 is one of the most outstanding in the area.

There are three small communities in the district- Holgate, New Bavaria and Pleasant Bend. Holgate, the largest, has several commercial entities in the downtown area. The local public library has expanded several times and serves the village of Holgate. The Campbells' Soup Company of Napoleon and General Motors of Defiance are two of the area's largest employers, along with the three hospitals in the area. The Defiance College and Northwest State Community College are also within commuting distance of Holgate.

The district currently educates 474 students in a facility located on a 50 acre site on the northeast side of Holgate. The district staff work diligently to ensure student success at all levels and in multiple ways. Holgate takes great pride in offering a variety of educational options for students. Those include the following:  a sound traditional curriculum, online electives for High School students through our virtual academy, College Credit Plus opportunities, strong extra-curricular clubs and athletics, excellent supportive programs for both visual and performing arts, exemplary vocational agricultural programs. Students are recognized consistently for their achievements in a vast array of areas, both within the school and in the community at-large.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

The Holgate Board of Education is looking for an energetic treasurer who will maintain a high standard of ethics, honesty and integrity in all personal and professional matters.

Desired strengths/expectations of the new Treasurer will include:
*         Experience in governmental (school) GAAP accounting and reporting with EMIS.
*         A thorough knowledge of and successful experience in sound fiscal management practices.
*         Ability to develop both short- and long-range financial forecasts.
*         Ability to maintain fiscal credibility and to serve as the Board's spokesperson to communicate financial information to internal and external stakeholders.
*         Ability to work cooperatively with the Board, Superintendent and staff.
*         Ability to evaluate staff performance.
*         Ability to establish and maintain adequate internal accounting controls.
*         Familiarity with Ohio school law and finance.
*         Working knowledge and successful experience with cash management.
*         The candidate must possess a valid treasurer's license or show proof one could be obtained.
*         Experience as a school treasurer is preferred.
