Hi Angie,


I don't see any issues with the vehicle being paid out of the food service fund as long as it is used for that purpose.  If it is used for other purposes, since federal monies support your food service program, there may possibly be an issue with that.

Subject: Vehicle Purchase by Food Service Fund

Our District has 5 buildings in it.  The Food Service Supevisor is responsible for driving between all 5 buildings.  She asked if it would be okay to purchase a small vehicle to be used by the food service department to drive back and forth between the buildings instead of her being paid for mileage to cover the gas and wear and tear on her own vehicle.  Our food service fund has a healthy balance and would pay for the vehicle.  Does anyone know of anything that would prevent the food service fund from purchasing a vehicle?  She will not be taking it home every night.  It will stay at the high school.  Just curious before she is given the go ahead to proceed.
