KRA Change for Fall 2025

Two new Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (KRA) form options will be available for the fall 2025 administration. The forms contain refreshed items. The new short form (KRA-R2) is 27 items and the full form (KRA 2.0) is 50 items. Both forms will result in scaled scores that are comparable to previous KRA forms.  A benefit to using the KRA 2.0 is the availability of all four domain scores: Language and Literacy, Mathematics, Social Foundations, Physical Well-Being and Motor Development.

Each school district and community school must determine which form they will implement for fall 2025. By default, one copy of the short form (KRA-R2) for each kindergarten teacher will be shipped to the district or community school physical address. MATERIALS

The new forms will be structured the same as in previous years with a 3-hole drilled teacher manual and a spiral bound, reusable student booklet. Districts will need to provide one 3-ring binder for each test administrator and a blank sheet of paper for each student. Both forms have some items available to administer on the KReady app as in previous years.

  *   Teacher training on the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment will be available in June. All new teachers must successfully complete the training prior to assessing children.  The training is 100% online and will be available in the Ready for Kindergarten Online System (KReady). No registration is required; however, teachers must have a KReady account which is assigned by the local assessment data manager.
  *   Returning teachers may complete a refresher training, but it is not required.
