Programs focus on improving birth outcomes, and improving the health status of pregnant women, infants, and children to ensure moms and babies celebrate the child’s first birthday.

Hospital Quality Improvement Bundles to Protect Moms

To improve infant outcomes, we must also focus on keeping moms safe and healthy throughout pregnancy and the first year after birth.  One evidence-based and data driven strategie that Ohio has implemented is The Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM) Patient Safety Bundles.<https://links-1.govdelivery.com/CL0/https:%2F%2Fchildrenandyouth.ohio.gov%2Ffor-providers%2Fmaternal-infant-clinical-initiatives%2Falliance-innovation-maternal-health%2Falliance-on-innovation-in-maternal-health/1/0100019f3e2c2dab-01e07410-32b9-4680-9d2c-28e3ef84f82e-000000/oi7ZcalE_Cgky0ZkYP3l-RTfYLfZ3-WGrUbJFneemCg=452> These AIM patient safety bundles make childbirth safer by giving hospitals clear, proven steps to follow when complications arise. When care teams respond quickly and consistently, mothers are healthier, babies have a stronger start, and families experience fewer long‑term health challenges. These bundles not only help prevent maternal deaths but also lower the risk of infant loss by addressing issues like unmanaged hypertension, severe bleeding, and infection.

Across Ohio, we have implemented four AIM bundles to address severe hypertension, obstetric hemorrhage, substance use disorder, and most recently, maternal sepsis. Over the six years that Ohio has been implementing these bundles, 89 birthing hospitals have participated. While Ohio continues to see labor and delivery units close across the state, 78 of the 82 remaining birthing hospitals have implemented at least one AIM bundle, and 97 percent are participating in two or more. This reflects Ohio’s strong commitment to protecting mothers, strengthening families, and improving outcomes.

Save the Date: Kindergarten Readiness Assessment Informational Webinar

A Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (KRA) Informational Webinar will be held on July 22, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. DCY highly recommends that administrators and KRA data managers attend this webinar.  At the beginning of each school year, children in public and community school kindergarten programs are assessed using Ohio’s Kindergarten Readiness Assessment. The assessment includes ways for teachers to measure a child’s readiness for engaging with instruction aligned to the kindergarten standards.  This webinar will review the steps necessary to set up teachers and students in the Ready for Kindergarten Online (KReady) system and provide assessment policy updates.

Revised Career Pathways Level (CPL) Model

DCY is excited to introduce a revised Career Pathways Level (CPL) model effective July 1, 2026. All professionals with a current CPL were automatically transitioned to the new CPL model in the Ohio Professional Registry on July 1. As part of the transition, all professionals will maintain their current CPL level, unless awarded a higher level as a result of the new model. Ohio Child Licensing and Quality System (OCLQS) Access Updates

Reminder! Effective July 8 the Multifactor Authentication (MFA) tool currently used to access OCLQS is being retired. All back-office users, including State and County staff, will access OCLQS using their OHID credentials via their OHID Apps Dashboard or via the OCLQS URL. 

Date: July 8, 2026  

Deployment Time: 12:00 a.m.  

What can you expect?

Following the deployment, State and County users will log into OCLQS via an OCLQS tile on their OHID Apps Dashboard or directly through the OCLQS URL.

How can you prepare? 

There are no action items at this time. A desk aid will be provided with the outage message to assist users with this update.

Ohio 211 Goes Statewide and Launches New County Dashboard

Ohio 211 has expanded access across Ohio, with all 88 counties now having access to 211 services. This milestone builds on years of local investment. Community partners across Ohio created the strong foundation that 211 stands on today, and DCY is proud to have supported the expansion of this next phase of growth. As part of this work, a new dashboard went live on July 1 that provides a breakdown of calls and referrals by county, offering a clearer view of how individuals across the state are using 211 services. Ohio 211 is a free, 24/7 service that connects individuals to resources such as housing, food assistance, health care, transportation, counseling, and other essential supports. Updated Administrative Code Adoption Rules Go Into Effect July 15

The first of four packages regarding Ohio’s adoption rules in Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) chapter 5180:2-48 will go into effect on July 15, 2026. Ohio Catalyst Bootcamp

Foster Success, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Children and Youth, will be hosting three Catalyst Bootcamps for the Ohio Education and Training Voucher program.  These Bootcamps are intended for youth and young adults ages 14-19, with experience in foster care to learn more about the path to college.  Attendees will tour a college campus, meet with key support programs, and learn more about their next steps through interactive sessions.

Each participant will receive a $100 stipend and registration is required.

[t.jENKINS]Bridges Success Story: Tyler’s Path to the Skies

When Tyler enrolled in Bridges, he came in with goals and a determination to build a future he could be proud of. Two years later, he’s well on his way.

Throughout his time in the program, Tyler has maintained stable, leased housing and continuous eligibility, no small feat for young adults navigating the transition out of foster care. But what truly sets him apart is the drive he’s shown to shape his own path.

This spring, Tyler graduated from Marshall University’s Aviation Mechanics Program. His journey toward aviation began with a site visit to an aviation maintenance company in Nashville, an experience that sparked a passion and opened the door to a career he hadn’t imagined before. With support from his Bridges liaison, Tyler built a strong professional résumé and has already begun applying for positions in the field.

His financial foundation is just as solid. Tyler has maintained steady employment, strengthened his financial literacy, and earned an excellent credit score through disciplined planning and smart money management.

Reflecting on his journey, Tyler shared, “Bridges was a big help in transitioning to adulthood, or ‘the real world’ as they say.”

Tyler’s story is exactly what Bridges is designed to make possible: a young adult equipped with the support, tools, and connections he needs to build a life he’s proud of. And we can’t wait to see what comes next for him.
