[Link-princ] ESC courses

Good morning!
We received communication last night that should help clarify how ESC teachers and courses are to be linked and verified

First, the rosters of 4th- 8th Grade math and reading classes taught by ESC teachers *should* be verified.

Second, because principals are responsible for the educational program of all students associated with their building(s)-regardless of where their students receive instruction-home school principals are the individuals who are responsible for reviewing and approving all rosters associated with students from their building(s). In those cases where the course is taught at a location other than the home school principals' building, the home school principal is (still) responsible for verifying his/her students' rosters and should collaborate with the ESC supervisor and/or the principal of the building where the course is physically taught with respect to instructional attribution issues.

Third, principals are likely to question unfamiliar classes that appear in roster verification-those that may be taught at other locations by people who aren't members of their traditional staff. We want to encourage principals to examine these classes carefully to see if they may be classes taken by some of their students who receive instruction from alternative providers such as ESCs before any decision is made to delete a class.

Please let Annette or I know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks
