Here you are....

10.04 Maternity/Paternity/Adoption Leave

A. An employee who gives birth to a child, is the father of a newborn child, or adopts a child, is eligible for up to six (6) weeks of paid maternity/paternity/adoption leave to be deducted from the employee's accrued sick leave.

B. The six(6) weeks leave will commence the day of childbirth or adoption of the child. Employees can only take one six(6) period of leave per childbirth or adoption, even if more than one baby is born or adopted.

C. Paternity leave will only be granted if the father lives with the child.

D. Employees with available sick leave can choose to take up to six weeks paid maternity/paternity/adoption leave but such leave must be taken at one time and cannot be spread over separate days or weeks.

E. Employees should discuss their intention to take paid maternity/paternity/adoption leave with their immediate supervisor as soon as possible to allow time to arrange for a substitute.

Mario,

Wickliffe gives 10 days to fathers after the birth of a child. We do have specific contract language that addresses the leave.

Good evening,

If you have a moment, I would greatly appreciate it if you could answer the following two questions for me:

1. Do you give new father's paid days off for the birth of a child? If so, how many days?

2. Do you have specific contract language or board policy explicitly granting paid leave for new fathers?

We are working through this currently with our teachers union and want to get a sense of the landscape on this issue.

Thank you!
