[Mail_supt] Research request from NW Ohio School Superintendent

Fellow superintendents:


Good afternoon!  I hope this email finds you all doing well after Labor Day
weekend!  I am emailing all of you to request your assistance in my
research.  My name is Robert Hlasko and I am a doctoral student at the
University of Findlay.  Some of you might remember me from a similar
request last year.  I appreciate those who were able to help me facilitate
the focus groups (and invite you to help again, if you can!); however, I
was unable to secure a sufficient number of participants to create a valid
sample size, *so I am asking your your assistance again (this time with a
less intrusive and, most importantly, quicker survey).  *


As part of my doctoral studies, I am conducting research on the educational
mission(s) of K-12 schools.  I hope to learn, without prejudice, what
stakeholder groups (including parent, educators, and legislators) believe
the educational mission(s) of K-12 schools in Ohio to be and whether or not
those stakeholders believe that schools are meeting that mission(s).  The
goal of the study is to inform stakeholders and, specifically, future
policy decisions regarding education at a local and state level.  *I am
contacting you to ask you to consider distributing the following survey to
your educational staff and parents of students in your district.* * I will
handle the distribution and collection of the surveys so that your workload
is limited only to approval and, perhaps, assistance with sending out via
your email distribution.*

If you are interested in having a voice in this discussion related to
school mission please consider completing the anonymous surveys (at the
link .  Depending on the length of individual responses the survey should
take between 15-30 minutes to complete.  All responses will remain
anonymous.  If anyone should decide to participate, they are free to
discontinue participation at any time without prejudice.  Aside from the
time required to complete the survey the risks to participants are less
than minimal.

*If you are willing to allow me to distribute this survey through a
listserv, directly to administrators or teachers, or via another avenue
please email or call me.  Please do not distribute the survey link I
provided as a preview as I will need to make a separate survey for each
school district.*  If you should have any questions about the study or the
survey please do not hesitate to communicate with me.  It is imperative for
my study that I have at least one school from each of the eight types of
school districts in Ohio, so please consider helping a study which will
impact all Ohio school districts!
