ECOESC Daily Language Courses

Welcome! The ECOESC will again be offering daily World Language courses for the coming school year! These courses will be delivered via Zoom, using teachers properly certified in their language field. ECOESC world language teachers also teach their respective language using proficiency and standards based practices, striving to stay in the target language for more than 90% of the instructional time.

Just the highlights:

  *   Cost - $12,000.00 per instructional period (up to 25 students per class)
  *   Singleton seat student option MAY be available, $2000.00 per student

American Sign Language

American Sign Language (ASL) is the natural language used by deaf individuals and the Deaf community. ASL I-IV is available for your Middle or High School course offerings.


  *   Offered as a World Language, not as interpreting lessons
  *   Each level builds on previous levels
  *   grammar and language structure are taught
  *   cultural best practices relating to deaf culture is embedded
  *   follows Ohio World Language content standards as well as Signing Naturally text series
  *   Can be offered as a CCP option


Mandarin Chinese

Beginning students will learn the basics of spoken and written Mandarin Chinese. By stressing proper tones and pronunciation, this class introduces Mandarin Chinese to those who are curious about the most widely spoken language in the world.

  *   Offered as a World Language
  *   Each level builds on previous levels
  *   Traditional character writing is taught
  *   Instruction delivered by native speakers; listening, speaking, reading, and writing are all embedded in the curriculum
  *   Can be offered as a CCP option
  *   Additional funding allows our program to offer:
     *   Cultural visits (when students can travel)
     *   Performances and guest speakers at your own campus
     *   Additional cultural learning in the classroom such as; cooking and preparing meals for Chinese holidays
     *   National Chinese Language Competition
     *   National Quiz bowl and art contest opportunities
     *   The ability to travel and learn internationally in China


Spanish

Spanish levels I-IV can be offered during the coming school year. Teachers follow Ohio World Language standards to offer proficiency-based Spanish Instruction.

  *   Levels I-IV are available this year
  *   Each level builds on previous language levels
  *   Students engage in cultural activities while learning the language
