*Technology Coordinator*

*Job Description, Responsibilities and Duties*

*Reports to: *Superintendent

*FLSA Status: *Exempt



*Responsibilities:* The following skills and duties are representative of
performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable

   - Provides leadership to determine the relevance of technological
   advances. Works with administrators and staff to periodically review and
   revise the district’s continuous improvement plan as it relates to
   technology.
   - Implements the district’s technology plan. Develops a strategy to
   implement identified priorities within specified timelines. Ensures that
   the apportionment of technology resources is equitable throughout the
   district.
   - Develops and recommends policies governing the applications and use of
   educational technology.
   - Ensures compliance with all licensing agreements.
   - Regularly advises the superintendent and administrative team about
   emerging issues.
   - Coordinates and/or provides ongoing technology training programs for
   staff.
   - Provides ongoing support services for building level technology staff.
   - Develops and maintains a technology reference/resource library for
   staff.
   - Serves as a contact for vendors. Maintains a library of product
   information and current catalogs.
   - Oversees the preparation of reports, records, and inventories required
   by law, district policy, and/or administrative directive. Protects the
   confidentiality of privileged information. Ensures that all reports are
   submitted on time.
   - Prepares budget recommendations that maintain the highest quality of
   service attainable within available financial resources.
   - Recommends the purchase of new equipment and software based on
   substantiated instructional and administrative needs.
   - Prepares technology research and development grant proposals.
   Administers grants. Prepares and disseminates reports as directed.
   - Coordinates the purchase of new equipment to ensure hardware and
   software compatibility.
   - Prepares competitive bid specifications.
   - Receives, inspects, installs, tests, and inventories new equipment and
   software.
   - Works with the maintenance department on construction/installation
   needs. Installs computer network wiring and connections (e.g., servers,
   hubs, routers, etc.). Installs or provides assistance installing classroom
   equipment.
   - Oversees the preservation of the district's technology equipment.
   Recommends rules and operating procedures to ensure the proper use and care
   of technology resources. Works with administrators to address equipment
   security.
   - Consults with administrators to evaluate technology needs. Works
   committees, administrators, and/or staff to determine the relevance and
   compatibility of new equipment.
   - Performs preventive maintenance and routine cleaning of the equipment.
   Maintains an inventory of replacement parts. Makes minor repairs. Keeps
   work areas orderly. Schedules repairs by outside vendors. Maintains repair
   records. Ensures that equipment is operational and available for use as
   needed.
   - Suggests equipment applications that will enhance the educational
   process.
   - Provides documentation to support the development of short and long
   range plans.
   - Orders technology equipment and supplies.
   - Maintains an up-to-date inventory of the district’s technology
   resources. Prepares logs and support documentation (e.g., location, date
   installed, upgrades, etc.).
   - Sets up and maintains file servers (e.g., users and groups, space
   allocations, backups, etc.) for local area networks (LAN) and wide area
   networks (WAN).
   - Ensures that equipment is operational and available for use as needed.
   Oversees and/or performs routine maintenance and cleaning of the equipment.
   Makes or arranges for repairs.
   - Keeps work areas orderly. Maintains repair records.
   - Identifies and recommends outside vendors, contractors, and
   installers. Coordinates contracted services. Schedules, inspects, and
   signs-off on work performed.
   - Discards outdated or nonfunctional equipment following approved
   procedures for the disposal of fixed assets. Maintains a salvage pool of
   useful parts.
   - Notifies staff about new acquisitions. Provides opportunities for
   individual and small group problem solving sessions. Arrangements for
   software previews.
   - Works with administrative staff to explore adaptations that will
   enhance classroom activities.
   - Accepts and incorporates feedback and coaching from administrative
   staff and consultants.
   - Works with staff to address computer security (e.g., consent forms,
   records maintenance, students use of E-mail and the Internet, equipment
   storage, etc.).
   - Responds to staff requests regarding technological modifications that
   support the attainment of educational goals for identified students with
   disabilities.
   - Promotes the creative use of technological resources.
   - Reports evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law.
   - Strives to develop rapport with staff. Responds to requests and
   complaints promptly and tactfully.
   - Offers and accepts constructive suggestions diplomatically. Respects
   the personal confidences and privacy needs of individuals.
   - Manages departmental communications (e.g., inquiries, mail, E-mail,
   voice mail, announcements, news releases, questionnaires, etc.).
   - Monitors and administers special local, state, and Federal technology
   programs and initiatives.
   - Serves as the district liaison for instructional technology to
   supporting organizations (e.g., data acquisition sites, OILTS, OECN, FCC,
   etc.).
   - Represents the district in technology related meetings.
   - Prepares and maintains technology equipment throughout the year.
   Ensures that technology equipment is ready at the beginning of the school
   year. Properly stores and/or monitors the storage of equipment at the end
   of the school year.
   - Participates in and/or supports appropriate research and pilot
   projects. Encourages staff to develop, publish, and distribute innovative
   technology related materials.
   - Participates in national, state, and regional activities that advance
   technology and education (e.g., professional associations, advisory
   committees, etc.).
   - Pursues personal goals to improve future performance. Participates in
   a variety of activities to keep current with advances in technology and
   organizational administration.
   - Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as
   citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings. Helps instill in
   students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic
   values.
   - Strives to develop a rapport with students, staff, parents and the
   public and be understanding of the life challenges that students may be
   facing.
   - Ability to collaborate, work well under pressure, and maintain a sense
   of humor and humility.
   - Performs other specific job-related duties as directed.

   empathy. Passive-aggressive conduct, backstabbing, gossiping, and similar
   conduct is negative and counterproductive to not only the educational
   experience but also the workplace experience. It is your responsibility to
   set an example of appropriate, professional, and respectful workplace and
   adult conduct for the students as you are just as much of a role model as
   the educator.

 *Working Conditions: *Exposure to the following conditions may range from
remote to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be
predictable.


   - Potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens and communicable
   diseases.
   - Interaction with disruptive and/or unruly individuals.
   - Exposure to student exuberance and commotion.
   - Duties may involve extended time using a computer and keyboard.
   - Duties may involve considerable phone contact and paperwork.
   - Duties may involve working under time constraints to meet deadlines.
   - Duties may involve working during the evening and/or weekend.
