I wouldn't recommend what you are thinking of doing in the way of capital improvements unless you have a legal opinion.  You will need to report these as federal funds and back to your funding source for expenses.  We use a 4xxx receipt code or have used a 5300 depending on what year the reimbursments were for.  Hope that helps.

For those who receive Medicaid reimbursement for eligible services, I am looking to get a sense of where you receipt those funds.  Typically, we have received those funds back to the General Fund that originally incurred the expense.

Have any of you ever chosen to put them toward a special project say to a capital fund for general building improvement?  Our recent settlement from Medicaid for some back years of claims was sizeable and thus has raised the question.
