Good Afternoon,

As a reminder, below is the update from SSDT concerning filing 1099's with the state where they clarified with the Ohio department of taxation there is no need to submit an Ohio 1099 if there is no Ohio withholding.

To summarize, the 1099 reporting process remains the same as in previous years and no new specific Ohio reporting is required.

Thank you,

Subject: Fw: Ohio 1099 reporting update

Good Evening All.
Just received an update from SSDT. The entire message is below our comments.
Per Ohio Dept of taxation, if no Ohio tax was withheld then Ohio does not require a 1099 Misc or 1099 NEC.
In short, no electronic file will be created by SSDT because you are not required to report.
Please keep in mind, this has nothing to do with reporting to the FIRE website. That is Federal reporting and still required.
Thank you for your patience as we waited for clarification.
Have a great weekend!!
Marcia, Ashley and Brandy

Good afternoon,

I would like to provide you with an update on the Ohio 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC reporting requirements I sent a message about on Tuesday.

Earlier this week we learned about a 1099 reporting requirement on the Ohio Department of Taxation's website. We researched the site and reviewed the specifications, and based on the way the site was worded we felt we needed to share the information with you and get started on implementing the ability to generate the necessary files.

Yesterday afternoon I called and spoke to someone at the Ohio Department of Taxation to clarify reporting requirements. I was told that there is no need to submit an Ohio 1099 if there is no Ohio withholding. The gentleman I spoke to referenced sections of the attached document. I specifically inquired about the wording on the W-2/1099 Information Page<https://tax.ohio.gov/business/ohio-business-taxes/employer-withholding/w2-information-page> and he acknowledged that it was worded poorly.

To summarize, the 1099 reporting process remains the same as in previous years and no new specific Ohio reporting is required.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you,

SSDT
