Good Afternoon,

We do want to emphasize that a test file does NOT need to be send by next week, districts can wait until January to submit their test files.

If you want to submit the test prior to January we recommend using a 2021 test file. The purpose of today's communication is to ensure we share the Fire system important dates since it will go down for maintenance soon.

I wanted to share a few important key dates for the Fire system and also advise Test files must be submitted prior to your first submission Note: The system will be down starting next week until 1/4/2023 for annual updates, so it may be optimal to submit your test files by next week or districts will have to wait until 1/4/23 to submit their test files.

FIRE System Availability
November 25, 2022 - January 4, 2023:     System down for annual updates
January 6, 2023:                                                System Available.
FIRE Test System Availability
November 25 - January 3, 2023:                 System down for Updates.
January 4, 2023:                                                System Available.

Here is how you can generate a test file from USAS-R (Once the file is generated you will log into the FIRE system and submit your test submission):

Next, go to the IRS Fire test URL: https://fire.test.irs.gov/Register2.aspx to submit a test file.

I wanted to send a reminder to please complete your application for the IRS TCC Code in order for your district to submit 1099's for 2022 to the FIRE website.

Please note that the IRS FIRE Website will be taken down on November 25 at 6pm and will not be available again until January 6, 2023.

Once you receive your TCC code, please email to helpfiscal at mveca.org<mailto:helpfiscal at mveca.org> so we can configure your district.
