A friendly reminder from the Ohio Department of Taxation (Department) that W-2/1099-R submissions and the annual reconciliations (IT 941, IT 942 4th quarter/annual, and SD 141) for 2021 are due March 2, 2022.  The W-2 file must be submitted using either of the two options described below:

  *   The new electronic W-2 filing method, called the Simplified W-2 Upload format, which utilizes a CSV (comma-separated values) file format that can be used to create a W-2 file to electronically submit on the Ohio Business Gateway (Gateway), OR
  *   The EFW2 layout utilized by the Social Security Administration, with certain modifications for the Department.

The 1099-R file must be submitted using the 1099-R layout required by the Internal Revenue Service in Publication 1220.

When you sign into Gateway, you should already have the option/permission to access the W-2/1099 Upload service.  If you do not, there are guides located on Gateway’s website or the Department’s website at tax.ohio.gov/W2upload<https://ohio.us11.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e647c07bb381bb374d3ac9af2&id=e436851c6a&e=4f67f06349> under the “Resources” section that will explain how to add this transaction to your Dashboard.
