[Tech-l] Network Downtime

Good morning,

MVECA is working with Charter (AKA Time Warner) to move all of the district connections to a diverse path network.  Once done we will have 2 paths into the MVECA data center - if one goes down, traffic will flow across the other path.  This is from the Charter core to MVECA.  In order to move to the new setup, we have to manually move each connection to a new switch in the MVECA data center and Charter needs to update the network path.  This will require downtime for each connection.  This will be done one connection at a time so the outage should be between 2-5 minutes for each district.

We've scheduled to start the migrations at 5:00pm on 3/29/2017 and plan to do all of them that night.  If there are any issues, we'd then use 3/30/2017 for those left.

Please let me know as soon as possible if this will cause any problems/issues for your district.  This will not affect any district that is coming into MVECA via dark fiber (SCS, SCCTC, GISA, Greenon and Yellow Springs).
