[Mail_treas] Double dipping?

I would agree with Jackie, but I would also add that we no longer have classified employees working as coaches because of overtime. We have one exception – 3 hr/day bus driver who is a middle school basketball coach; we’ve determined that he would not work enough hours to qualify for overtime. For everyone else, no classified employee is eligible to coach because of the overtime that would be due.

Dave,
In our district it has been addressed as the "few minute" protocol. The teacher/coach who goes to state would use professional days and not be expected to use personal/deduct.
Now I will add that we have and do have the issue of an employee who is a coach in an adjacent district. Any need to leave the work day is either personal first then deduct.

I used that subject line to get everyone's attention.
My question is as follows:
If you have an employee, say a full-time classified aide who is also a paid coach, who must leave early (before the end of his/her contracted hours that day) to get to an event, what do (would you do?)
Some say dock the time because the employee is getting paid as a coach and can't receive pay for two "jobs" for the same time period.
Some say if it only a few minutes (how to define "few) then ignore it.
Some day pay both regardless.
Finally, some say what about a teacher who is maybe a basketball or wrestling coach and goes to state and misses one or two days. Do you pay them?
Just wondering here in the frozen tundra what others do.
Thanks for any replies. I can put together a response list.
