[Mail_treas] TCC Code Application Steps for 2022 1099 Submissions -IMPORTANT

Good Morning MVECALAND,

We are quickly approaching Calendar Year End and time to start working towards obtaining TCC Codes so your district can submit 1099's for 2022.
Classic will no longer be available to append files for MVECA to submit your 1099's.

This year the IRS has changed the process for obtaining the TCC Code.
I did find the attached instructions to help guide you through the VERY TEDIOUS process.
Please read the instructions completely.  There are links within the document to IRS websites and FIRE websites for this process.
If you run in to problems, when trying to register for your TCC Code, please refer to the FIRE System Phone Support at the bottom of the instructions.
You will need to carve out about an hour to get through this process.  The IRS requires very personal information to verify your identity, so be prepared for that.

Please note that the FIRE website will be down for annual updates Starting November 25, 2022 thru January 5, 2023
Please also note that it takes 45 days to receive your TCC Code from the IRS.

Once you receive your TCC code, please email helpfiscal at mveca.org<mailto:helpfiscal at mveca.org>  providing your TCC Code so we can configure your district.

Please try to get this on your schedule before the end of October.  The closer we get to November 25th  the more people that log on to the FIRE website, causing slowness and inaccessibility.
